Behavioural Awareness in Veterinary Practice Webinar

Webinar to raise behavioural awareness in veterinary practice

On August 17th, it is honorable to have Dr. Sarah Heath, RCVS and European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine to share about “Behavioural Awareness in Veterinary Practice” on webinar. Dr. Heath introduced the principle of veterinary behavioural science at the beginning of her presentation. One of the most crucial components in veterinary behavioural science is the emotional health. Emotional health of an animal is equally important as physical and cognitive health, because they are interlinked. These three components impact one another and ultimately contribute to the overall well-being of an animal.

Dr. Heath emphasized the significant role of veterinary practices in the emotional health of their patients. A general veterinarian could make a great positive impact on the emotional health and well-being of their patient. Practically, a general practice should pay more attention to identifying the problem, and get a deeper understanding of the underlying factors of behavioural issues.

The webinar ended with a Q&A session with enthusiastic response. More than half of the questions were about the clinical usage of hormone related products in behavioural issues.?In conclusion, veterinarians should be aware that to safeguard the overall well-being of their patients, it is necessary to adopt behavioural medicine approach and practice.
